LTT - SBC (page 3) : Shahabad (SDB) pics.

Train# 1013's scheduled arrival @ Shahabad is 0848 hrs. Since it was running late, the actual arrival @ SDB was 0940 hrs. The actual departure time was 0945 hrs (sch. dep : 0850 hrs). Shahabad territory follows the Semaphore signal system. It's a nice change from the more common electric ones. A few pictures of these semaphore signals are depicted below.

Train #1013 hauled by ED WDM2 changes over to the loop line to access the platform at Shahabad. Notice the semaphores for the adjoining loop line and the center main line. The semaphore for the 1013 is visible in the upper left hand corner . The arm of the semaphore is down @ an angle indicating 'all clear to proceed'. An arm @ 90 degrees (horizontal) is a STOP signal.

As the train moves into the station, one can notice the stationary Pune WDS6 #36106 shunter hauling a track maintainence rake. The car immediately behind the flat bed car (trailing the loco) seems to carry a crane-equipment probably facilitating the laying of sleepers.
The WDS6 is pretty worn out and quiet far from its home base (Pune)

The time is 0945 hrs. The arm of the semaphore signal drops at an angle indicating 'all clear to proceed'. The loco pilot of the ED WDM2# 18534 blasts the horns of his loco indicating departure. The loco notches up. A few people scramble to board the GS (general) compartment of the 1013.
Train # 1013 departs SDB

As the 1013 leaves SDB, a good view of a group of semaphore signals is visible. There is a common platform to access the arms (for maintainence). The arm of the extreme right side semaphore has a circular shape on it. This is probably for the line (track) heading into the yard.
